This is the third year in a row that the Spanish Super Cup winner will be chosen in Saudi Arabia. The two best football players in Spain have won this tournament twice before, and this week they will be trying to win it again. The nice surprise in this final four is Osasuna, and Atletico is back after not being there last year.
The first semi-final of the mini-tournament will be a match between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. In the beginning of the season, the Ducchi beat their city rival in La Liga, which was the only loss they had in any tournament so far. In Atletico’s well-deserved 3-1 win at home, Morata and Griezmann each scored three goals.
That being said, Real is clearly the favorite today, which makes sense.They are in better shape now that they are in first place in La Liga and have won five straight games in all categories. Atletico, on the other hand, doesn’t win very often. In fact, they’ve only won one of their last four league games. Other than that, neither team had any problems over the weekend in the King’s Cup event. They are now in the eighth round of the competition.
The way both teams have done as an away team is a number that can help us decide what to bet on in this match. In La Liga, Real Madrid is the best team. In the Champions League, they won all three games they played there. But Atletico Madrid has only won the title three times when they were on the road, and only Feyenoord has won the Tournament of the Rich. The Dushechi have lost four games in a row as an away team in La Liga.
Recently, the competition has been pretty even. In fact, Real hasn’t won in regular time in three straight games. A King’s Cup match at the start of last year finished in a tie during regular time and a win for the “Royal Club” in extra time. Actually, Real won the last Super Cup game between these two teams, though it took a penalty shootout. That was four years ago. The duel will happen today at the normal time, and I expect the symbolic guests to come out on top again.
Liverpool, who has won the most League Cups in English history, will be looking to add another prize to their collection this season. “The ‘Merseysiders’ are one step away from the final and will be huge favorites against Fulham in the semi-final.” Most likely, though, Chelsea will be the team that plays Middlesbrough in the final. Chelsea may not be doing well in the league, but they should have no trouble beating Middlesbrough.
These two teams moved on in England’s other title race over the weekend. “The Merseysiders won 2-0 away to Arsenal, which came as a bit of a surprise.” Both Arteta and Klopp relied on the best players they could find, but both teams had big problems. We couldn’t see van Dijk, Salah, or Endo play for the Reds. They have been the best players since the start of the season. Even so, Liverpool didn’t let in a goal. Alisson had the most scary chances in the first few minutes of the game. I would add in one line that Fulham beat Roderham as expected, even though the score was only 1-0.
Four teams have been knocked out of the FA Cup so far. The teams they lost to weren’t weak like Leicester, Bournemouth, and West Ham. The Hammers were thought to have the hardest game, but they lost 5-1. By the odds, Fulham should have been out of the tournament a long time ago. However, the team beat Tottenham in the second round and beat Everton in a spot shootout to win the round before that. The Cottagers beat Norwich and Ipswich between those two teams.
We saw a great game between these two teams at Anfield a little over a month ago. The home team won 4–3, even though they were behind until the 87th minute. Klopp can’t let his defense give up so many hits, though, since Salah isn’t playing. The Merseysiders are still dangerous to attack even without the Egyptian, but Nunez and his team are not as good at scoring goals. I think Liverpool will win, but there won’t be nearly as many goals as there were in their last game.
This Wednesday, there is a very exciting quarterfinal of the Coppa Italia. It’s kind of like a local derby when Atalanta plays Grand Milan in Milan. Bergamo is only an hour away from the fashion city. Even though the home team is the favorite, the away team is in good shape and has a real chance to make it to the semi-finals of the tournament.
One month and one day ago, these two teams played each other in Serie A round 15. Following that, Atalanta took the lead three times, giving them three points to celebrate. Luis Muriel got a goal deep into extra time, making him the hero. Even with this win, the Bergamaschi are still only sixth in Serie A, nine points behind third-placed Milan. They look very alone in their spot.
The eighth rounds of the competition were also played last week. As you know, the top eight teams from last season’s Serie A go straight to this stage. Both teams got ahead without much trouble. To beat Cagliari, Milan scored four goals and let one slip. Luka Jovic scored two goals to show Giroud that he has help. But Atalanta had a 3-0 lead at Sassuolo but again couldn’t keep the net shut, giving up a goal in the 95th minute.
Both teams are in good shape because they haven’t lost much lately and have mostly won. Over the weekend, Milan beat Empoli 3-0, and Atalanta stole a point from Roma when they were in town. The Rossoneri are, however, clear favorites at home, where they have won seven of their nine Serie A games. Of the teams they’ve played away from home in the league, Atalanta has lost half of them. They also haven’t played any of the top three teams yet.
Without a question, Lazio vs. Roma is the most exciting quarterfinal match of the Coppa Italia. Since 2008, when they won this prize twice in a row, the Wolves haven’t been proud of their accomplishments. Since then, their local rival has won the game three times, being only two trophies behind Roma’s nine. Juventus is without a doubt the cup winner right now. Tomorrow, they will play Frosinone for a spot in the semi-finals.
It wasn’t easy for Lazio and Roma to get past the previous round of the Coppa Italia. Gendouzi scored the only goal of the game in the fifth minute, which was enough for the Eagles to beat Genoa in December. Roma, on the other hand, just played Cremonese a week ago. “The Wolves dominated, but by the 77th minute, they were already out of the game.” But the pressure paid off, and Lukaku and Dybala scored two goals to win the game with a correct score 2-1 for Roma.
Even though the two Rome grandees aren’t having the best season, they are still in all the games. In Serie A, they are right next to each other; they are seventh and eighth, but Fiorentina, in fourth place, is only a few points ahead of them. As of late, the Eagles have been making real progress in the league. They have won their last three games.The Wolves, on the other hand, are having a hard time getting all three points. On Sunday, they tied Atalanta 1-1 at home.
There can’t be a favorite in this kind of derby where the ground is shared. In the last three games between the teams, Lazio won two and didn’t let any goals in. The last time these two teams played, in the 2017 Coppa Italia event, Lazio beat their opponent in the semi-finals. The fact that the odds for success today are even after all the bets is not an accident.
In the earlier part of the season, Lazio and Roma played a Serie A round of 12 match and ended in a tie. Situations were pretty rare back then, and there were only three perfect shots in total. Eight yellow cards were given out, and Maurizio Sarri got one of them. There was a lot of stress, though. If you look at this competition, very few games end with less than 6-7 cards. I don’t think today’s game will be one of those games.
