The 2023-24 season is in the books and that means we can take a look at the next season. It’s never too early to take a peak and get an idea of what the experts are thinking.
The key to understanding which teams will be good in a season that has yet to begin to knowing which good teams are returning most of their starters. The teams mentioned below are returning a great deal of them.
Georgia
The Bulldogs will return many of their starters and will be the overall favorites to win the national championship. They are returning their star QB Carson Beck who had 24 passing TD’s and just 6 interceptions. The young man has already declared that he wants to win a championship more than anything else.
Alabama
Georgia SEC foe Alabama will be returning many of their players as well including star QB Jalen Milroe. Nick Saban, considered by many to be the best college coach of all time, will be back for 2024. The best online sportsbooks have the Crimson Tide rated at #2 for the 2024 season.
Michigan
You don’t make an appearance in the national championship game without automatically being considered as one of the top candidates the following season. Star QB J.J. McCarthy is back and so is much of the vaunted defense. The only reason Michigan is down at #3 is because it is still uncertain what head coach Jim Harbaugh plans to do this offseason. Will he step down as the Michigan head coach. Chances are that he will.
Summary
Odds are pretty good that one of these teams above will win the college football championship which is being played in about a year from now. But, it is important to remember that new 12 team playoff series begins next season. This will surely give other programs a shot at the title.
