Overview
Spiti valley is a wonderful place that Rudyard Kipling called “a world within the world”. Its vast expanse is characterized by its stupefying beauty and its quaint solitude. The Tibetan Plateau is where the Spiti Valley lies. It is one of the most elevated tablelands on Earth. It’s located at an elevation of more than 3500m.
You can also try Chadar Trek – Zanskar River this is one of the most loved trek by trekkers.
Spiti valley
Spiti Valley is a high-altitude area that includes valleys of river Spiti as well as other rivers that join the stream. It is located in Himachal Pradesh’s Lahaul and Spiti regions. High elevation means extreme weather. Spiti offers a variety of incredible destinations that will allow you to enjoy the Spiti lifestyle and geography.
Tourists love to explore and visit different locations in Spiti. Due to heavy snowfall at high passes, roads are closed for around 7-8 months. Tourism has a very limited window of opportunity.

Do not miss important towns
- A) Gue
Gue is home to the mummified remains of a llama inside a glass chamber.
- b) Nako
No, a small village located in Hanging Valley in Kinnaur is called. There is an old monastery, the Nako Monastery, and a lake named Nako Lake.
- c) Dhankar
The Dhankar village is home to the Dhankar gompa, a monastery built in 1200 AD that offers breathtaking views.

Chesham is a village at a high altitude. It is difficult to reach Chesham. The steep climb and high elevation of Chicham make it a dangerous place.

Monasteries
Key monastery
The key monastery, at an elevation of 4112m, is a large gompa that is well-known for its magnificent buddha shrine and ancient manuscripts. It is reminiscent of a fort and draws inspiration from Chinese architecture. It contains a Tengyur and an assembly hall.
Lhalung Monastery
It is an ancient monastery that was founded by a Buddhist monk. It is a hub for Buddhist teaching. Because it has golden leaf deities, it is known as the Golden Temple.
Gondola Monastery
Gondola Monastery is well-known for its wooden shrines and idols. It is located at the confluence between Chandra and Bhaga.
Tabo monastery
Tabo monastery is made up of 9 Tara and Buddha Maitreya temples. It has a variety of interesting features such as stucco sculptures, wall paintings, and other works.
Stunning villages
- A) Kibber
Kibber, a charming hamlet in the Spiti Valley region, has houses that are quite traditional. It is a stunning scene. Extreme weather conditions are a hallmark of the village, which is located at a high altitude.
- b) Losar
Losar is located at the junction of Losar and Peeno streams and is close to the Indo-China border. Losar village is filled with peace and tranquility.
Baralachala Pass
Baralachala pass, which is well-known for its high altitude, is an important intersection for roads between Lahaul (Ladakh) and Ladakh. It can be found in Zanskar, on the Manali-Leh highway.
Lakes
a) Chandratal
Chandratal is a beautiful water body that has blue reflections from the sky and runs deep into the Tal. Chandratal’s shimmering waters are surrounded by lush vegetation.
b) Suraj Tal
Another beautiful lake in spiti is Suraj Tal. Suraj Tal is a serene and calm place that delights all who see it. Nature’s embrace is unmatched anywhere else.
c) Dhankar Lake
The unique lake of Dhankar is worth seeing and is something to be cherished. Although the sight is stunning, it is not easy to enjoy as the trek to Dhankar is difficult and dangerous.
Komik
Kaza is only 20km away. It is a charming village that is full of beauty and a joy to behold. It is located at 18000 feet above sea level, and it feels like paradise. This is a great place for anyone who enjoys trekking and exploring the limits of their abilities. Due to the extreme elevation and freezing temperatures, Komik can be very harsh.
Kunzum Pass
Kunzum Pass is located in the Kunzum range at an elevation of 4590m. It bridges the distance between Kullu, Lahaul valley, and Spiti valley.
